Ukraine opened 23 new markets and destinations for its exporters in the first half of 2026, more than in the whole of 2025. Strengthening energy security, including through increased domestic gas and oil production, remains one of the state’s key priorities.
Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Perebyinis announced this at the United by Mining forum.
“Diversifying sales markets and sources of investment is becoming particularly important. For Ukraine today, this is both a matter of economic development and a component of our economic security. Expanding the geography of our partnerships reduces the Ukrainian economy’s vulnerability to external shocks and economic pressure from the aggressor state. We are already seeing tangible results. In the first half of this year alone, Ukraine opened 23 new markets and destinations for Ukrainian exporters. That is more than in the whole of last year,” he said.
Perebyinis also named stronger energy security among the state’s priorities, particularly increasing domestic natural gas and oil production.
“An important component of this task is increasing our own natural gas and oil production, restoring damaged energy infrastructure and attracting modern equipment, technologies and investment,” the deputy minister said.
According to Perebyinis, the Foreign Ministry is working with the Energy Ministry on the international dimension of energy security. Ukraine is securing financial, technical and humanitarian support from partners, cooperating with international financial institutions and foreign businesses, and developing bilateral energy cooperation.
According to the State Customs Service, Ukraine’s total goods exports reached $21.02 billion in the first half of 2026, compared with $20 billion in the same period of the previous year.
